Psychological Consultations for Parents

How old is your child?

We offer consultations tailored to the child’s age – the questions and challenges parents face vary at each stage of development.

Parents come to us with all sorts of difficulties, doubts, and challenges. No problem is too small or too large. Often, it’s these seemingly „minor” issues, such as everyday tensions, anxieties, doubts, or simple parental fatigue, that prove to be important reasons to reach out for support.

When should you consider a consultation?

Here are the most common reasons parents reach to us:

  • They want to understand their child better – their behaviour, emotional reactions, and developmental pace.
  • They want to support their child with everyday challenges: starting nursery or daycare, building social relationships, developing confidence and sense of agency, or learning to express their needs and boundaries.
  • They have a specific concern and want to know whether it falls within the typical range of development.
  • They are struggling with their own emotions as parents – such as helplessness, anger, exhaustion, or parental burnout.
  • They are going through a difficult family situation – a major life change or crisis.

What does a consultation look like?

During the session, the specialist gathers information about the child and their family situation, listens to your concerns, and explores the challenges you and your child are facing. To better understand the situation, they may questions they consider relevant.

At the end of the consultation, you can discuss next steps together – the psychologist may refer you to other specialists for further assessments, suggest home observations, or request a report from child’s facility.

At Bliskie Miejsce, we invite parents to their first consultation without the child.

In our experience, parents find it easier to talk openly when they have comfortable, private space – without having to navigate the conversation around the child. During the follow-up appointments, the specialist may invite the child for an observation session, though this is not always necessary. Sometimes, working directly with the parents is enough and it benefits the child too.

Parental consultations take place in person (in Warsaw: Śródmieście or Żoliborz) or online.

Sessions involving children take place in the office only, and must be arranged with the specialist as part of your cooperation. A session with a child requires written consent from both parents.
